According to the press release from ABC Medianet, ABC’S NEW SERIES, “HOMELAND SECURITY USA,”
PREMIERES TUESDAY, JANUARY 6 (8:00-9:00 p.m., ET)
This prime time series claims to give Viewers an unprecedented look at the agencies and
people who protect our country.
But will it actually tell the whole truth about the agencies operating under the banner of Homeland Security or will it be a pro Patriot Act exercise in government approved propaganda?
I think the latter.
Will they tell us about the two rogue agents from El Paso Texas Ignacio Ramos and Jose Compean, who decided that illegal entry was a Capital offense and tried to be judge, jury and executioner?
How about when they take us along the border between the U.S. and Mexico in the scorching heat of the desert outside of Tucson, where Border Patrol agents race the clock to find six undocumented immigrants lost in the barren wilderness.
Will they take us back to the day in January 2007, when Border Patrol agent Nicholas Corbett, murdered in cold blood, Francisco Javier Dominguez-Rivera, an illegal immigrant who was apprehended returning to Mexico and killed while on his knees following Corbett’s orders? I doubt it.
In the Pacific Northwest, at the Blaine, Washington border crossing, they will show us smugglers attempt to foil DHS canines by packing narcotics in baby diapers. But will they mention the arrest of Deputy Patrol Chief Joseph W. Giuliano, the face of the Border Patrol in the Blaine sector, on three counts of third-degree child rape. He allegedly had sex with a 14 year old girl multiple times who was living in his home. I imagine they will ignore that.
Will we be privileged to see America’s new concentration camps in Taylor Texas? The T Don Hutto detention facility, one of two in the country that house immigrant families? Will they show us how immigrants die in Federal custody? Don’t be holding your breath on that one either.
How about the three Iraqi war veterans, part of a National Guard unit assigned to the Laredo sector to assist the Border Patrol in their administrative duties, who were arrested after making multiple trips through checkpoints with a government van filled with illegal immigrants?
July, 2007; CBP Inspector Margarita Crispin, 32, was charged with conspiracy to import a controlled substance for allegedly allowing loads of marijuana to pass through her bridge lanes unchecked for the past four years. This activity begin shortly after she was hired by CBP.
And just recently, Leonel Morales, 30, of the Border Patrol’s Laredo sector and Salomon Ruiz, 34, of the Rio Grande Valley sector were indicted by a Federal grand jury, accused of collaborating with drug smugglers.
And then we have the BP agents who think nothing of violating a persons Civil Rights.
An example is Santiago Perez, 28, of Edinburg, Texas, who admitted as part of a guilty plea in August that he assaulted a Guatemalan and a Mexican man on separate occasions. Perez admitted to authorities that he pistol-whipped a Guatemalan man in December 2006. Perez also admitted to taking a Mexican man out to a remote South Texas ranch and holding a gun to his head, and trying to force him to admit he was a smuggler. He was sentenced to a year in Federal prison.
No, I think this will be a 13 part series to make us feel good about the over budgeted, ill trained agencies with little or no oversight.
What do you think?
