Synopsis: 

Requires officials and agencies of the state and political subdivisions to fully comply with and assist in the enforcement of federal immigration laws and gives county attorneys subpoena power in certain investigations of employers. Establishes crimes involving trespassing by illegal aliens, stopping to hire or soliciting work under specified circumstances, and transporting, harboring or concealing unlawful aliens, and their respective penalties.

H2042 (OPPOSE) 

Synopsis: 
Day laborers and those who hire them would face criminal charges if they disrupt traffic under a bill approved by a House committee this morning. 

The bill, H2042, would make it a misdemeanor for employers to stop in a roadway to hire a day laborer if the vehicle impedes the normal flow of traffic. The prospective employee would also face a misdemeanor. 

Each could face a maximum of 30 days in jail for the offense.

No official, agency or personnel of this state or county, city or town of this state may adopt a policy that limits the enforcement of federal immigration laws to the full extent permitted by federal law.
