Arizona Civil Right Advisory Board recommends termination of Arpaio’s Section 287(g) authorization
In view of the uncontrolled obsession of Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio’s obsession with harassing persons of “brown skin”, while ignoring real crime, the Arizona Civil Rights Advisory Board (ACRAB) has recommended that the Maricopa County Board of Supervisors end the so-called Section 287(g) agreement with the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) which allows the County Sheriff’s Office to enforce FEDERAL immigrations laws. County Manager David Smith will review the recommendation and report back to Board of Supervisors.
The facts:
- Since the Board of Supervisors approved the Section 287(g) agreement in February 2007, Sheriff’s deputies have arrested more than 1,455 suspected illegal immigrants, while jail officials have placed immigration holds on more than 19,808 people booked into jail on crimes. All of this while more than 44,000 Felony warrants go unserved and unnoticed and Maricopa County has more than 2,700 lawsuits pending against their “Good Sheriff” .
- The citizens of Maricopa County deserve to live in a fair and just county where the law is enforced failry and does not discriminate against a person for “being Brown”. The Arizona Civil Rights Advisory Board is adsolutely, unequivocally correct in its accusations of related racial profiling and correct to call for the termination of the Section 287(g) agreement. If you are a resident of Maricopa County Arizona, take a moment to make sure that the program is terminated , and Sheriff Arpaio’s detrimenta efforts, do not go unpunished.
Please call and email Manager Smith and your County Supervisor to support ACARB’s efforts to end the 287(g) program and put an end to Sheriff Arpaio’s vile efforts to usurp the rule of law and leave Maricopa County citizens at the mercy of real criminals.
And remember folks, something the nativist don’t understand, a concept totally alien to them. If you are not resident of the county, you’re voice means nothing. With that in mind, here is the contact info:
