Minuteman Shawna Forde given max of 65 on remaining charges

Judge John S. Leonardo sentenced convicted double murderer and Minuteman Shawna Forde to an additional 65 years on the remaining charges she was convicted of  in February. She was sentenced to death for the murders of 9-year-old Brisenia Flores and her father Raul on May 30, 2009. Forde got the 65 years on attempted murder, burglary, aggravated assault and robbery charges. All sentences but one are to be served consecutively to the other including the death sentence for the murders. Consecutive means that the total time will be served as opposed to concurrent where time for all offenses is served in one block of time. Here’s the breakdown of Judge Leonardo’s decision. For those interested, the automatic appeal of Minuteman Shawna Forde’s death sentence has been filed with the Arizona Supreme Court. This is all routine and could be many months before the Court makes a ruling. Not that it matters. Forde, currently residing on death row at ASPC_Perryville, has time on her hands and is not going anywhere. The fact that Shawna Forde is, by my reading of the evidence, guilty of planning and ordering the executions of Brisenia and Raul Flores and the attempted killing of Brisenia’s mother, Gina Gonzalez, does not change that opinion. But I will try to be objective in looking at why the jury sentenced her to death. Putting myself in the place of a juror and seeing the evidence presented to the jury, it would be difficult to resist giving Forde the maximum penalty allowed by law. The Pima County jury hearing the case of convicted double murderer and Minuteman Shawna Forde have unanimously agreed that Forde should be put to death for the barbaric murders of 9 year old Brisenia Flores and her father Raul.
