Border Violence Down

Not what you wanted to hear, but the lies told about border violence by the proponents of SB-1070 were just that, LIES. The truth is opposite. Border violence is static and in decline, illegal crossing are in decline, a fact overlooked by the fearmongering nativists of Arizona

NOGALES, Ariz. – Assistant Police Chief Roy Bermudez shakes his head and smiles when he hears politicians and pundits declaring that Mexican cartel violence is overrunning his Arizona border town.

“We have not, thank God, witnessed any spillover violence from Mexico,” Bermudez says emphatically. “You can look at the crime stats. I think Nogales, Arizona, is one of the safest places to live in all of America.”

FBI Uniform Crime Reports and statistics provided by police agencies, in fact, show that the crime rates in Nogales, Douglas, Yuma and other Arizona border towns have remained essentially flat for the past decade, even as drug-related violence has spiraled out of control on the other side of the international line. Statewide, rates of violent crime also are down.

"This letter is intended to advise you that I do not consent to you revealing any information provided to you by my office, regardless of any personal incentive to breach the attorney-client privilege. "Be advised that should you disclose any information that could harm any pending criminal investigations, I will consider charging you with violations of applicable statutes." Sheriff Joe Arpaio interfering with ethics investigation

Maricopa County Sheriff Joe “Payoso” Arpaio, already eager for SB-1070 to give him some legitimacy in his campaign against Mexicans in his county, is now knee deep in controversy over his involvement in another ethics investigation.

The ARIZONA REPUBLIC reports:

Sheriff Joe Arpaio has sent letters to current and former attorneys in the Maricopa County Attorney’s Office warning them to watch their words if they speak to investigators looking into possible unethical conduct by former County Attorney Andrew Thomas.

The letter threatens the attorneys with criminal charges if they reveal “confidential” information about the sheriff’s inquiries into county Supervisors Don Stapley and Mary Rose Wilcox and Superior Court Judge Gary Donahoe.

Interim County Attorney Rick Romley responded with a letter of his own warning Arpaio that he was overstepping the authority of his office.

BREAKING NEWS from Immigration Talk with a Mexican American (ITWAMA) in the case of Pinal County (AZ) Deputy Louie Puroll, who claimed to have been in a gun battle with 5 armed drug smugglers, being shot in the process.

It appears now that the entire episode was an elaborate but sophomoric stunt to enrage the citizens of Arizona and the United States into believing the hysteria the anti immigration crowd is pushing and garner more support for SB-1070, Arizona’s racial profiling law

From ITWAMA:

Breaking News: More evidence that Deputy Puroll LIED! A top law enforcement source says evidence does NOT support the account by Puroll.
ITWAMA is covering this story because the ANTI Immigration Reform forces are using this story and the Rancher Krentz murder (which has 0 suspects) to scare the American Public into thinking Drug Cartel Violence is running rampant in border states and therefore there is a need for racial profiling laws like sb1070. The reality is this so-called crime was STAGED to scare people and in 2010, Phoenix has the lowest rate of violent crime in years and much lower than other American cities.

Gov. Jan Brewer

Arizona Governor Jan Brewer - "You know Arizona has been under terrorist attacks, if you will, with all of this illegal immigration that has been taking place on our very porous border", while ignoring the terrorism being directed against her states Hispanic population

Arizona Governor Jan Brewer, getting it from all sides for her signing of SB-1070, Arizona’s racial profiling law, continues pandering to the extremists in her state and around the nation, this time, pulling out the “terror card”.

In a little-noticed Fox News interview Friday, Arizona’s Republican governor, Jan Brewer, described the challenge of illegal immigration in her state as a veritable terrorist bonanza.

Fox News host Megyn Kelly asked Brewer, “Do you think that these folks who are all noticeably outside of your state, are the ones that I just ticked off, including the President, have an appreciation, governor, for what Arizona has been going through with respect to illegal immigration?”

“Obviously not,” Brewer replied. “You know Arizona has been under terrorist attacks, if you will, with all of this illegal immigration that has been taking place on our very porous border. […] The whole issue comes back, that we do not and will not tolerate illegal immigration bringing with it very much so the implications of crime and terrorism into our state.”

You are so right Governor Brewer.  Arizona has been under and the scene of many terrorist attacks of late.

Some examples come to mind.
