DREAM ACT closer to becoming a reality

We’ve always supported passage of the DREAM ACT as part of a larger overhaul of our broken immigration system, and if Harry Reid has his way, the DREAM ACT may become a reality. Reid is supposed to introduce the act this next week as an amendment to the Defense Appropriations Bill, a move that has the Republicans and some Democrats slightly “upset”. Should it be done in this manner? Probably not, but Republicans, the party of “No”, have had more than a decade to get behind this bill and the time has come to get it passed.

Appointed Governor Jan "La Bruja" Brewer retracts "beheading" claim, well, sort of.

After mumbling and stumbling and walking away from reporters questions about her claims of beheadings in Arizona by drug cartels, Arizona Governor Jan Brewer has admitted, that maybe, she was wrong. “That was an error, if I said that,” the appointed Governor told The Associated Press and others on Friday. “I misspoke, but you know, let me be clear, I am concerned about the border region because it continues to be reported in Mexico that there’s a lot of violence going on and we don’t want that going into Arizona.

In a debate last night with Democratic challenger Terry Goddard, Gov. Jan Brewer was once again asked about the “beheadings” she claims have been happening in Arizona. It’s interesting her reaction. She knows she’s been caught in one of many of her lies and her facial expression, and what happens afterwards, is especially telling. She wants to “move forward”! Stephen Lemmons of the Phoenix New Times puts it in his special perspective.

McCain takes Arizona Senate Primary - The Winners

In the end, it wasn’t even close, with incumbent Senator John McCain trouncing opponents JD Hayworth, the corrupt former Congressman and late night infomercial huckster and newcomer Jim Deakin. Senator John McCain       281347       56% JD Hayworth                           160858      32% Jim Deakins                              58705       12% Overall, about what we expected. The good folks in Arizona soundly rejected all the rancor and hate filled smears directed at the incumbent Senator and elected the best man for the job.

Stunning defeat in the works for JD Hayworth in Arizona Senate race?

We’re getting some astonishing straw poll results in from the Arizona races. In a day which saw heavy rain and a light turnout, Arizona voters may well put ALIPAC backed JD Hayworth firmly in his place.

Another ALIPAC failure as NC College Board gives immigrants the nod

The North Carolina State Community College Board cast a final vote Friday to admit illegal immigrants at the 58 community college campuses. Illegal immigrants will have to pay out-of-state tuition, about $7,700 a year, and they can be removed from a class if it is full and a legal resident wants in. This measure has been opposed by ALIPAC’s William Gheen whose opposition to anything that would better the lives of Hispanics began in 2005 when he opposed HBl 1138, which would have allowed certain non-citizens to qualify for in-state tuition rates at publicly funded North Carolina colleges and universities. At that time, and continuing until today, Gheen disparagingly and falsely referred to the “Access to Higher Education and A MORE
