Arizona Gov Jan Brewer shows her lack of class in airport confrontation with President Obama

She’s a joke and an embarrassment to the great State of Arizona. Jan Brewer, Arizona’s GED bearing governor greeted President Barack  Obama on the tarmac of  the Phoenix-Mesa Gateway Airport with in your face anger and finger pointing in front of the assemblage of local mayors and other dignitaries. Looking like she was dressed for an afternoon at a local bar, Brewer tried to give the President a personal letter inviting him to take a tour of the border and to discuss Arizona’s mythical crime and illegal immigrant invasion. Perhaps she even wanted to show him some of the “headless corpses” she maintains turn up on a regular basis. We don’t know though because her office declined to release a copy, saying MORE

SMACKDOWN - Efforts to repeal California DREAM ACT fails

It’s been a bad week for California Assemblyman Tim Donnelly (R-San Bernadino), the only tea bagger, Minuteman border vigilante and white nationalist currently in the California Assembly. The LA TIMES reported anti-immigrant factions reported Friday that they were unable to obtain the needed 500,000 petition signatures to ask voters to repeal the California Dream Act. The two-part measure, which allows undocumented immigrants access to both public and private financial aid at UC and Cal State campuses and at community colleges, was signed into law last year by Gov. Jerry Brown. Donnelly, in an email to supporters, said the failure was,  ”disappointing news.” Two days earlier,  Donnelly, a vociferous gun advocate was arrested at the Ontario International airport for trying to take a loaded handgun MORE

DOJ - President Obama's recess appointments are constitutional

President Obama’s decision to issue recent recess appointments is constitutional, because recent pro forma sessions of the U.S. Senate — some lasting just a few seconds — didn’t constitute legitimate sessions that could block such appointments, the Justice Department said in a memo released Thursday. The DOJ conclusion reads; In our judgment, the text of the Constitution and precedent and practice thereunder support the conclusion that the convening of periodic pro forma sessions in which no business is to be conducted does not have the legal effect of interrupting an intrasession recess otherwise long enough to qualify as a “Recess of the Senate” under the Recess Appointments Clause. In this context, the President therefore has discretion to conclude that the MORE

During a campaign stop in New Hampshire last week, Republican presidential hopeful Mitt Romney casually mentioned his father was born in Mexico, a part of his life that he wasn’t really discussing until he realized it was time to get the Latino vote. Romney’s grandfather fled to Mexico to avoid anti-polygamy laws and that’s one of the complaints from Mexicans to Romney: Mexico opened its doors to your ancestors but you oppose immigration reform in the United States? Watch the video and meet Romney’s primos.

Mitt Romney's alignment with White Nationalists assures loss of Hispanic vote

You have to love the GOP and their apparent standard-bearer for 2012, Mitt Romney. Apparently he thinks that pandering to the nativist and White Nationalist in this country will give him the votes he needs to defeat President Obama in November. However, political experts acknowledge that for that to happen, the GOP would need at least 40% of Hispanics votes. Thanks to Romney’s acceptance of Tantonian Kansas Secretary of State and anti-immigrant restrictionist  Kris Kobach, that is highly unlikely to happen. Kris Kobach is the architect of the draconian and Constitutionally suspect anti-immigration laws such as Arizona’s SB-1070 and copy cat laws in Georgia, Alabama, South Carolina and other states. All which are being challenged in the courts. As David Leopold recently MORE

US-Mexico sign agreement on Cross Border Trucking that will remove tariffs

It’s official folks! U.S. Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood and Secretaría de Comunicaciones y Transportes Dionisio Arturo Pèrez-Jàcome Friscione joined today in Mexico City to sign agreements resolving the dispute over long-haul, cross-border trucking services between the United States and Mexico. This agreement paves the way for Mexico to begin to lift 50% of the $2.4 billion in retaliatory tariffs that have been in place for more than two years, a result of the Obama Administration caving to pressure from the TEAMSTERS and OOIDA and defunding the previous highly successful Cross Border Demonstration Project. Pursuant to an agreement signed by the United States Trade Representative and the Secretaría de Economía of the United Mexican States, lifting of the retaliatory tariffs will MORE

Social misfits of ALIPAC Call for the Impeachment of President Barack Obama?

Some people lack the chromosomes to be a productive member of our society and William Potter Gheen III who resides at 154 Bridle Trail in Youngsville North Carolina and fancies himself President of the irrelevant little group of sociopaths commonly known as ALIPAC is one of these. He’s also out of his fucking mind! Losing donors and credibility, and having difficulty scamming his elderly adorers out of their hard-earned cash this time around, Willy Gheen has gone off the deep end this time as he takes to the clouds of insanity on one of his moronic ego trips. A certified poll has confirmed this observation of Willy Gheen by a margin of almost 6 to 1. His latest national presser? MORE

La Ley de Jaime Cuervo alive in Alabama as State passes repressive immigration law

Alabama’s xenophobic governor on Thursday signed a tough and repressive new illegal immigration crackdown that contains provisions requiring public schools to determine students’ immigration status (in violation of Federal Law) and making it a crime to knowingly give an illegal immigrant a ride, or for that matter, being “brown” and alive in Alabama. George Wallace must be dancing a jig in hell over this one. Earlier in this legislative session, the Republican-led Alabama Legislature — with the help of some white Democrats — passed the bill that guarantees trial lawyers will be employed in future litigation in Alabama, with many of them working at taxpayer expense. There’s no telling how many trial lawyers that legislation will affect. Then, after making MORE

Texans Unite - HB 12 soundly defeated!

Folks, you did it! Late Wednesday night, the Texas Senate soundly rejected HB 12, a bill to ban non-existent sanctuary cities. Sold by proponents as a bill to eliminate “sanctuary cities,” HB 12 would have had catastrophic consequences on the state of Texas. Similar to Arizona’s draconian SB 1070, the bill would have prevented local police departments from keeping Texas cities and neighborhoods safe by requiring them to enforce federal immigration laws. Fortunately for all Texans, numerous law enforcement officials, community organizations, and individuals from all over Texas joined forces to defeat this bill stand up for the safety of our communities. A group of patriotic Senators banded together to block this dangerous and potentially unconstitutional immigration bill in a MORE
