First shot fired in the battle for Immigration Reform?

Action Alerts, Immigration Reform, News & Views on January 6th, 2010 No Comments

We don’t think so, but that is not the thinking of ALIPAC’s Willy Gheen in a “National Red Alert” he sent to his handful of lemmings.

The subject? In State Tuition for Undocumented Students in New Jersey.

In his “Action Alert”, which be will ignored by only a handful of his lemmings who pass the day glued to a computer, Gheen makes these claims:

The illegal alien supporters are making a major underhanded move in New Jersey today which could have a major impact on all states and the push to pass Amnesty.

The Pro-Reform movement is making our voices heard on this issue as we have in the 11 other states, including Gheen’s North Carolina, to permit undocumented students access to the lower residents tuition in their state of residence. None of us support “illegal immigration”, we do support common sense immigration reform of a system that is severely broken.

Gheen goes on to explain the “Situation” in this manner, neglecting to tell the truth of the matter since it doesn’t fit his agenda.

  1. ALIPAC helped defeat in-state tuition for illegal aliens in New Jersey in 2009. Your calls, e-mails, letters, and faxes helped persuade New Jersey lawmakers to leave the bill in committee.
  2. In-state tuition for illegal aliens is a top priority of the open borders lobby responsible for this plan to transfigure the united states using hyper legal immigration and rampant illegal immigration.
  3. In-state tuition for illegal aliens forces taxpayers to pay more taxes to replace our own children in the limited seats in our colleges. Not only does it tax and punish American families, but it rewards families that break our laws and encourages more illegal immigration nationally.
  4. In New Jersey, outgoing governor Jon Corzine just lost his election and one of the big issues that caused his defeat was his support for in-state tuition for illegal aliens.
  5. ALIPAC predicted in early 2009 that “Governor Corzine will not be reelected due to his support for in-state tuition for illegal aliens as his national prominence on this issue puts him in the same boat as John McCain and Elliot Spitzer.”

Our response to this is:

  1. No evidence that the handful of calls made any difference. Being a state election year, the politicians had more on their plate to worry about than this bill. Had they been worried, or swayed by the limited number of calls they received, the bill would have been killed.
  2. This assertion is ludicrous. The issue of In State Tuition is but one of the sideboard issues that we are working to achieve. In State Tuition would effect a very small number of students, kids who were brought here to this country at a very young age, and who have immersed themselves in our culture, society and who have excelled in their studies. There is no reason why to deny these kids an education, an education that they would pay for with private scholarships and their own hard work. Nor would passage of legislation in New Jersey or any other state lead to “hyper immigration” as Gheen suggests.
  3. Again, another lie from the mouth of this buffoonish jackass. The tuition pays for the student. And as most laws passed regarding in state tuition for the undocumented, American students get first shot at seats available in the Universities. These are the facts.
  4. Jon Corzine lost his election because of high taxes, increased tolling of New Jersey’s turnpikes and parkway systems and because of voter dissatisfaction over the economy. The vote was so close, it could have gone either way. The issue of in state tuition had nothing to do with his defeat.
  5. Once again Whining Willy takes the credit for something he had nothing to do with. The issue of in state tuition was a local issue, despite Willie’s best effort to put it on the national scene.

PRO REFORM ACTION ALERT

Here’s what you can do to educate New Jersey lawmakers on the need for this legislation.

Step 1: Craft your own distinct short verbal and written message for the NJ legislators.\

Sample Message “I am calling to ask Representative/Senator _____ to support the in-state tuition for undocumented students, Bills A194 & S1036!  Taxpayers will not have to pay to as the undocumented students, the best and the brightest will shoulder the expense of their education. In state tuition for undocumented students will not encourage more illegal immigration, as some anti immigration activists suggest. This legislation has passed  in most states that have considered it and the nation is aware that  New Jersey lawmakers are championing  these bills in support of  the will of the voters. Please support and vote for A194 & S1036!”

Step 2: Access these links to locate the phone numbers, online contact information, and fax numbers for all New Jersey Representatives and Senators. We must call them all! If you can only do a few, pick some at random.

Remember, it is essential to our success that you call and then follow up your call with a written copy of your message sent by e-mail, fax, or both. Do not just do e-mails or faxes, calls are essential.

Step 3: If you have any questions, suggestions, new information to report, or you would like to share your distinct message with other Pro Reform activists, please post comments at the end of this post.

More Insane Posturing from Willy Gheen and ALIPAC

Gheen goes on to make these outlandish accusations in his closing, in addition to showing us his alliance with the anti immigrant nativist group NUMBERSUSA, an organization with close ties to John Tanton’s network of hate groups.

We must stop the illegal aliens and their supporters in New Jersey. They are rushing these bills through in an underhanded attempt to overthrow the outcome of the NJ Governor’s race on this issue! ALIPAC and NumbersUSA are rallying our supporters into this critical fight in New Jersey today.

So we know what we need to do in the Pro-Reform movement. Light up the phones and faxes and let New Jersey’s lawmakers know who has the real power of the vote, and force them to understand that the followers of people like William Gheen are in the minority
