House Parties for Immigration Reform draw 16,000+ participants

Immigration Reform on November 19th, 2009 No Comments

immigration_reform_3204 days after ALIPAC’s Tea Baggers against Amnesty concluded, with less than 1500 participants at 50 venues in 26 cities, the national campaign for immigration reform got off to a rousing start last night.

More than 900 house parties were held in cities nd towns from down east Maine to San Diego, from Miami to Seattle. All told, more than 16,000 persons (the limit of the phone exchanges) called in to participate in a telephone town hall meeting with Rep. Luis Gutierrez D-Il

Rep. Luis Gutierrez, who is spearheading the immigration reform campaign in the House along with New York’s own Nydia Velasquez, is set to introduce reform legislation within weeks. The plan will contain a legalization program that includes a pathway to citizenship for the undocumented. He told the telephonic town hall that “We need to enforce our laws, but our immigration problems will not go away just because we make our borders stronger.”

The Gutierrez plan will also address the splitering of families due to the recent immigration crackdown. In many cases, American-born children have been separated from their parents because of minor immigration infractions. Prior to 1996, immigration courts could redress such problems, but that power was taken away by Congress. Gutierrez pledged to correct that inequity.

The Illinois Congressman also said he would beef-up the provisions of the DREAM Act, to provide a speedier path to permanent residence for students brought into the United States as children by their parents.

Senator Charles Schumer Democrat of New York, is expected to introduce a similar Senate bill along the same time line.

ALIPAC’s Willy Gheen not happy

ALIPAC’s William Gheen is not happy. He sees his vision of a nation without immigrant slipping from his grasp.

In an announcement, made shortly after his pathetic appeal for donations to keep his family budget intact through the end of the year, Willy made this statement.

Great news friends!

I just listened in to the illegal alien supporter conference call. Luis Gutierrez’s is falling back. He claimed he would file a bill in December but Congress will not be in session in December! Then others talked about hoping for a bill by May 1, 2010 !!!

We have them falling back to 2010 Hurrah!

Also, they were only able to get 16,000 people on their phone call, so they claim, and they admitted we out called them to congress 20 to 1 last time. It was more like 50 to 1 and they know it!

We have them falling back. Their big conf call was lame, he did not file the bill, he is falling back, the whole call lasted less than 30 minutes and their advice for their supporters was hardly strategic or effective.

Funny thing, most of us didn’t hear any of this. And Willy claiming we were “only able to get about 16,000 people on our party line?” Er, Willy? Correct me if I’m wrong, but we rallied 16 times as many as you did for your little tea baggers protest and had to turn people away. We had 20 times the venues that you had in your little tea bagger soiree?

You poor delusional little man. The forces of the pro immigrant movement are preparing to roll over you like General William Tecumseh Sherman rolled across the south during the Civil War. Take heed little man!

For the majority of Americans who support immigration reform, call, write you Congresspersons and Senators, weekly, daily, whatever you’re comfortable with. Send e-mails, faxes, and even snail mails. And stay tuned to this site and to LONG ISLAND WINS who will also be spearheading an education campaign for our elected representatives.

Our time is now people!
