This is the last weekend before the August 24th Senate primary in Arizona which could return veteran Senator John McCain to the US Senate, for what could well be his final term. McCain is 77.
Does John McCain deserve another term in the Senate? Considering his opposition, former Congressman JD Hayworth, who was tied to the Jack Abramoff Indian Casino scandal, and Jim Deakins, a political newcomer and Tea Party favorite, we think he does.
Despite his political pandering to the anti immigrant crowd, John McCain is the lesser of three evils. At least he has always shown that he can put partisan politics aside and reach across the aisle to work with his opposition.
ALIPAC, and it’s discredited President, William Gheen, of course, disagree. This small North Carolina organization is trying to insert itself in the Arizona races by making annoying phone calls to Arizona residents and scaring the hell out of the large elderly voter base in Arizona.
ALIPAC is asking it handful of volunteers to call random numbers provided by Gheen and follow this script.

Messages: Leave this 30 second message on answering machines and in voice mail boxes.
“Hello, I am a volunteer for Americans for Legal Immigration PAC. We are trying to stop Senator John McCain’s Amnesty plans for millions of illegal aliens. If McCain and Obama succeed with their mutual plan to make 12 million illegals or more new voters, then the borders of America will be destroyed. Another half a million illegal aliens may become voters in Arizona. Please make your vote count on Aug 24th. This may be the last chance for your vote to matter. Please vote against John McCain and his Amnesty plans. Vote for JD Hayworth. He has promised to oppose the McCain – Obama Amnesty.”
That is the theme of ALIPAC. To scare uninformed citizens that any effort to resolve the immigration problem in this country, other than in the manner that Gheen supports, will result in 12 million new voters.
Does anyone believe that crap? Gheen would have you believe 12 million Mexicans would become instant voters. (There is only an estimated 6 million Mexicans in the country illegally, but to Gheen, they are the only ones here illegally)
And what “amnesty” plan does he refer too? The one in his little pea brain? It must be.
This is dirty politics at it’s best, by an insignificant little organization that has had a string of failures over the past couple of years. Yes, failures, despite Gheen’s best efforts to take credit for others work.
Sweet William continues his message of fearmongering and distortion of the truth.
“Arizona voters, you must help JD Hayworth retire John McCain to stop his and Obama’s plan to turn over 12 million illegal aliens into voters which would destroy our borders, Arizona, and America.”
My God! I’m even getting skeered (not)! The Mexicans are going to destroy America? Wow! And people actually believe this trite crap.
At any rate, if you’re in Arizona and haven’t already voted, consider holding your nose and voting for John McCain. We don’t need the obstructionism that would come with the election of JD Hayworth.
