City officials are rethinking how Santa Ana celebrates the Fourth of July after Minutemen and Tea Baggers in this year’s festival were caught on tape using the word “wetback” and worse to describe people in the mostly Latino crowd.
The celebration was not sponsored by the city, but by the Friends of the Santa Ana Public Library and a nonprofit group that offers classes on the Constitution. One of the lead organizers was self hating latina and rabble rouser Lupe Moreno, a member of the library group and who is also a prominent anti-immigration activist who is in ass deep with the Minuteman Project.
Moreno and her sister were speakers at a June 5 Tea Baggers rally in Phoenix to support Arizona’s draconian new anti immigrant law SB-1070, where they inflamed the crowd with some concocted story of how their lives had been destroyed by an alleged illegal immigrant.
Her presence at the festival drew activist Naui Huitzilopochtli, who films anti-immigration rallies. He stopped at a table where Yorba Linda resident Gary Hynds and his wife Anita, were selling soft drinks and assorted junk. His wife Anita also appears to be a “birther” and a whack job who has the solution for Arizona She also calls for our Presidents impeachment, They Hynds have also been connected to nativist whack jobs and border vigilantes Jeff “Bikini Boy” Schwilk, Ray Herrera and others, calling themselve SoCalPatriots
Naui’s video doesn’t show how the exchange of words began; both he and Hynds say the other shouted first. The video clip begins with Huitzilopochtli asking: “How do I look like?” Hynds looks up from a book he is reading and says, “A wetback.”
As the pissing match heats up, Huitzilopochtli calls Hynds “the true wetback”; a friend with Huitzilopochtli calls Hynds an “fucking white guy.” Then they ask Hynds: “You think all these people are ‘wetbacks’ too?” Hynds looks at the camera and says, “Yeah.”
With four-letter words flying from both sides, Hynds also calls Huitzilopochtli’s friend a “wetback motherfucker.”
Moreno calls SAPD and files a false police report against Naui and to follow it up, writes a letter to the Santa Ana City Council, further libeling Huitzilopochtl and urging others to do the same.
It’s interesting because it would appear Moreno and her loony toon pals have shot themselves in the ass over this one. The incident has created fireworks in Santa Ana politics, prompting members of the City Council to walk out of a meeting this week in protest of plans to thank the organizers of the event with certificates of recognition. It has also generated a new push for the city to take more control of Independence Day festivities
The councilman who had proposed that honor, David Benavides, brought it back up this week. This time, Mayor Miguel Pulido and Councilwoman Claudia Alvarez left the meeting. The only other council members who were there – Sal Tinajero and Vincent Sarmiento – distanced themselves from the recognition because of Moreno’s involvement and the video of Hynds.
“What we do here is a reflection on the entire council,” Sarmiento said. “Sometimes (people) are not deserving of recognition because they are hate-filled, they are intolerant, they are hostile.”
Benavides went ahead with the recognition. He later described the video clip as “disturbing” and said Moreno’s views are a “polar extreme” from his.
This is especially relevant in these times where the NAACP is accusing the Tea Baggers of being racist and xenophobic, and with good reason as these videos show, and the Tea Baggers proving the point of the NAACP by releasing the “Letter to Mr Lincoln” by Tea Party Express founder and Neo-Con Mark Williams. And just this week, Andrew Breitbart got busted once again for putting out heavily edited video which cost a good woman, Shirley Sherrod, her job with the USDA. Breitbart taking a page from the playbook of William Gheen and ALIPAC when it comes to doctored and edited videos showing the nativists point of view.

As most of you know I have put an American Independence Day Event for the last 3 years in the city of Santa Ana with the help of most of you. We worked very hard and it was a great event. About 45 minutes before the event was over Naui showed up looking for me.
He did not find me right away and started problems with people attending. One of his videos even shows him filming while looking for me. He has spent the last 5 years hunting me down and shoving his camera in my face. He has made my grand children cry.
He verbally attacked someone at the event and he reacted and was filmed by Naui. It is on Utube now.
Naui also went after two pastors, but they spoke to him about Jesus Christ loving him and he left them alone. I had to call the police and they came out. By that time, Naui who is a coward took off.
It has made the local paper, only because one of the councilmen was going to give certificates to those on the committee including me. The whole Santa Ana city council walked out, because of my stand against illegal aliens.
I am asking to please read the article and send letters to the Santa Ana City Council and to the paper. There is a place on the Internet newspaper to leave comments on the most commented section. Please do not say anything that would cause more problems, counter Naui’s nasty comments.

I “like” the part where this low class beatch calls Naui a coward. Naui is a good friend to Immigration Clearinghouse and a personal friend. I have high standards as to who I call a friend and Naui Huitzilopochtli has always exceeded those standards. The cowards are those such as the Hynds, Moreno and her border vigilante buddies who wrap themselves in the American flag and falsely pretend to be “Patriots”, using that as a vehicle to spread their hate and intolerance amongst any who will listen.
Take a moment to send the city council and email, fax or snail mail indicating your disgust which the actions of these nativist loony toons.
