Immigration Reform & Human Rights for the 21st Century 

For the past nine days, we’ve been following the news stories about the alleged attack on Tiffany and David Hartley, the US couple who were jet skiing on Falcon Lake in Texas, when the husband David was supposedly shot and killed while trying to elude “lake pirates”. And with each interview of the “widow”, each new revelation or speculation, we are of the opinion, as are many, that there is something very wrong with the scenario we are being presented.

As has been reported, David and Tiffany Hartley, a young couple from Colorado, living in McAllen Texas, set off for a day on the waters of Falcon Lake, a man made lake that straddles the Texas Mexico border. Supposedly, they were on their jet skis about 6 miles into Mexico close to the ruins of Viejo Guerrero, a town flooded by the construction of Falcon Dam in the 50′s. Falcon Lake has some of the best bass fishing in the world and hosts several major bass tournaments every year. According to witnesses, it is not a place where jet skis are normally seen. Depending on what report you read, or interview you’ve heard, they were accosted by 2 or 3 boatload of men, armed with automatic weapons and shouting for them to stop. They turned back for the border of the US with the “pirates” in hot pursuit and during the chase, David Hartley, according to the wife, was shot in the head and died.

A tragedy indeed and one that needs closure. The most disgusting thing about it though is that the politicians are using this event to further their own careers like the whores they are. Even as authorities on both sides of the border express their doubts that this event happened as described, Sheriff’s, Congressmen and Senators are getting face time to push their “secure the border” agenda.

This whole event, which has escalated into an international incident, with Governor “Slick” Rick Perry having the audacity to demand President Calderon call him within a specified time, has nothing to do with border security or lack of it. The Hartley’s, fully aware of previous interdictions of fishermen by armed individuals on the Mexican side of the border, took it upon themselves to illegally enter Mexico on their sightseeing excursion. That’s the facts. Not to mention the “widow” illegally entered the United States upon her return. Whatever is determined to have happened to David Hartley, is the fault of the couple and of the criminals who committed the murder, whomever it turns out to be. Not the fault of President Obama, nor President Calderon or the authorities on either side of the border.

Credibility is challenged
We seen the news stories on the networks. We’ve read the news accounts in the papers and on line, of the frantic 911 call by Tiffany Hartley. I listened to her the other night on Anderson Cooper 360 as she described the event, in a cool, calm, collected, “stone cold” manner that she has had throughout her TV interviews. The family of David Hartley, as is understandable, have shown the shock and grief you would expect from losing a loved one, but not the wife.

In the interview Hartley describes the event, and I’ll paraphrase from the chase:

“We were on our jet skis when we noticed the boats approaching us with armed men. The jet skis are, you know fast, super…., capable of 75 mph and we weren’t worried. We discussed the situation and decided to head back to the US side. I saw bullets passing over my head and hitting the water and that when I looked back, and you know, saw David catapulting over the front of his jet ski. I turned around, went back, got off of my jet ski. David was face down in the water. I rolled him over and saw he has been shot in the head. I tried to get him on my jet ski, but I had to decide between David and saving my own life”

Anyone see anything wrong with this implausible scenario? With armed gunmen in hot pursuit, she goes back to her husband, stops the jet ski and goes into the water, and the boats keep getting closer?

They are running from the gunman in watercraft much faster than boats the other parties have, meaning the bad guys are behind them, yet she doesn’t realize he was shot in the head until she turns him over on his back? I have a problem with this implausible scenario as do many others.

And then, where’s the body and the watercraft? They were both wearing life jackets and it takes a lot to sink a jet ski. Too many unanswered questions.

Witnesses around the lake have reported not hearing the sound of jet ski engines nor gunshots on the afternoon in question, and others have said it is rare for jet skis to use the lake in that manner and that far from shore.

Initially, there were no witnesses to the alleged murder or their presence on the lake other than the person she came in contact with when she returned (illegally) to the US side of the lake and the shore.

Then yesterday on one of the FOX NEWS show on XM-121, Meghan Kelly suddenly has a witness to the whole thing, who, voice electronically disguised to prevent retaliation (gimme a break), he detailed how Hartley told him of the terror of turning her husbands body over in the water and seeing his brains oozing from his head. A detail not heard before from her.

Later in the day, Hartley was interviewed again and had this to say, and again, I paraphrase:

“They should be looking for the body on the land, not in the water but in the weeds on the shore, er I mean, they should look for the body in the water also, but on the land too”

And when asked about taking a polygraph, she responds “well maybe. I don’t see the need but if LE decided it was needed, it might be an option”

As one analyst described it:

For the past week since reporting David’s death, Tiffany has gone from talk show to talk show, net work to net work, speaking freely, contradicting herself, and giving linguistic indicators of deception consistently. She has now said “maybe” to taking a polygraph test.

Statement Analysis has shown that Tiffany Hartley is withholding information and being deceptive in her responses.

Her denials, according to Statement Analysis, are not denials at all.

all stated that Tiffany is truthful. The governor as well as family friends have called doubters out for shame. JVM said doubters are “re-victimizing” Tiffany Hartley.

The only other evidence that has emerged is a dashcam video from a Texas DPS Troopers car showing where they were pulled over in Zapata Texas a couple of hours before the event, for an expired trailer tag.

CBS New is making the outrageous statement that Police Video Supports Lake Pirate Story. They make the further claim that “Officer’s Dash Camera Caught Hartley’s Car Going to Falcon Lake, Supports Tiffany’s Timeline, Story of Shooting”. No it doesn’t! It supports the timeline and the fact they were going to Falcon Lake. What occurred while they were on the water remains a confusing mystery.

The Political Side of the Story

As we said before, the politicians, whores that they are, are taking full advantage of the media attention.

Congressman Ted Poe, as rabid an anti immigrant legislator as his former colleague, Tom Tancredo, used this opportunity to push his new National Guard Border Enforcement Act. This bill, H.R. 6253, would authorize the Secretary of Defense to make a minimum of 10,000 National Guard troops available upon request from a U.S. Governor. In addition, these troops would be paid for by the federal government and serve under the command of the requesting governor. Jan Brewer must be having mental orgasms at the thought of so many troops at her beck and call in her supposed lawless state, where illegal entry and crime has been dropping for the past 10 years. The bill has the usual co-sponsors, a veritable who’s who of anti immigrant, anti Mexican legislators.

Congressman Henry Cuellar of Laredo was in the mix with a well staged news confernce, although privately, away from his briefing book, he has raised the question, “Where’s the body, where’s the jet ski?”

Webb County Sheriff Martin Cuellar (brother of Henry) is on the scene in Zapata County, escorting the “grieving widow” and other family members to meetings with Mexican officials on the international bridge at Roma. Our question to this is a simple one. What in the hell is the Sheriff of Webb County Texas, doing in Zapata County Texas, where he has no jurisdiction, wasting MY tax money for face time on TV?

And then we have the Sheriff of Zapata County, Sigifredo Gonzalez, who can’t do anything since no crime was committed in his jurisdiction, but seems to have back channel communications with the bad guys across the border,. and who is seen in practically every story covering this event. Well, according to TPM, he’s another spreading fear and misinformation about the border. It was “Sigi” who coined the phrase “Pirates” long before this incident

Does anyone find this convenient happening this close to the mid term elections? I’m not the only one as we listen to little Tiffany pushing for “secure borders” and militarization of our southern border. (And oh, while you’re at it, please find David and bring him home)

AS USUAL, BLAME MEXICO
Governor Perry blaming the whole thing on Mexico is to be expected. What did Mexico do? In the US, most law enforcement is reactive. Listening to the family, Perry and the politicians, Mexico and Mexico alone is required to be pro active so no crime occurs.

They say Mexico is not doing enough and that it is Mexico’s fault because Mexican authorities haven’t bent over and kissed the asses of everyone who demanded it immediately and came up with the body. Mexico’s logical response was that they could not open a formal investigation until a formal complaint was filed. Well, a formal complaint was filed and Mexico has pulled out all stops to help in the search for Hartley’s body. But for the polakas in the US, and the family, it is still not enough.

SOME POINTS TO PONDER

• They’re blaming this on the cartel known as “Los Zetas”, although no proof of this exists, except that these day, Los Zetas, are convenient boogie men when you want to scare the hell out of the voters. Los Zetas were formed back in the late 90′s by deserters from Mexico’s special forces unit, Grupo Aeromóvil de Fuerzas Especiales (GAFE). Bad boys to be sure, some trained at Fort Bragg NC. 15 years is a long time. Most of the original Zetas are dead or in prison. What we have now are untrained criminal thugs, capable of pulling a trigger.
• The attention on the border at the moment, is the cartels worst nightmare. They don’t need the attention that disrupts their business, and like it or not, The cartels that control the cities along the border are an unintended part of our “Homeland Security”. They say who, what and when and in what manner, anything crosses the border. Does anyone think they are involved in penny ante crime on Falcon Lake. And I find it strange that in the encounter other fishermen have had with gunmen on the Mexican side of the lake, there has been no killings or shootings. Only this one. And if a murder was committed, you can be certain those responsible will be found dead, and very soon. The cartels solve their own problems and this ones a doozy.
• Where were the USCG picket boat that patrols Falcon Lake when this occurred, or the Border Patrol water units which are supposed to be out there to prevent illegal entry back into this country by means of the lake? The USCG was certainly present a few months ago to keep fisherman off of the lake after the Rio Grande flooded.
• Does anyone really believe that Hartley was killed for his jet ski? With the money the cartel bosses have in Reynosa, they could buy the damned factory!

Too many questions and not enough truthful answers. I guess we’ll have to wait until,

• A body is recovered
• Tiffany Hartley starts pushing for a death declaration so she can collect her husbands life insurance
• David Hartley is discovered sitting on a beach in Belize waiting for his “widow” to show up with the insurance money

Or perhaps, this was “THE PERFECT CRIME”. What do ya’ll think?

Those of use here at Immigration Clearinghouse sincerely hope it is as she says it is, but at this point, we may be correct in our assessment once again. This time, I hope not.
