Roberta Dills aka Laine Lawless attempts to extort $10,000 from Immigration Clearinghouse with threats and intimidation

Apparently her social security checks not sufficient for food, Laine Lawless dines while threatening anyone who speaks the truth about her "friend" Minuteman child killer Shawna Forde, with copyright infringement and defamation lawsuits.

Robert Dills, who uses the moniker “Laine Lawless” is apparently upset with us for reporting the news about her friend Shawna Fordes legal troubles.

For those who don’t know Shawna Forde, she is the leader of Minuteman American Defense, a small group of 12, who took it upon herself to lead a small group of fellow Minutemen in the home invasion murder spree last year that resulted in the death of Raul Flores and his beautiful 9 year old daughter Brisenia. The crime was committed to fund her border vigilante activities and evidence shows it was one of many planned.

We updated our readers on the latest motions filed yesterday in Pima District Court by Fordes defense attorney’s resulting in this email from Dills/Lawless.

Take that picture off your website of Shawna and Jim Gilchrist now. OR prepare to pay us $10,000 for copyright infringement. LL

She is of course referring to the photo of Shawna Forde and Jim Gilchrist together at Glenn Spencer’s Arizona ranch playing with some of Spencer’s toy airplanes which he used to “patrol” the border until the FAA advised him that was a no-no. But I digress

So what is business does Lawless/Dills have making these ludicrous demands that we remove the photo or pay her $10,000.00? Apparently none.

On July 16, Lawless/Dills publicly announced she was resigning from the Justice For Shawna Forde Committee stating;

Laine said, “Writing the book, Blonde on the Border and the screenplay will be a full time job, and I don’t have time to be a political activist.

Doesn’t she live in a fantasy world, but again, I digress.

Not withstanding the fact that Lawless/Dills is no longer associated with the JFSFC, that small group of wingnuts never has been the official voice of Shawna Forde nor authorized to speak in her behalf, according to a report published on April 6 of this year, which reads in part;

We’ve spoken with Ms. Forde and communicated with Ms. Lawless that the content of the website is not authorized by Ms. Forde and that only Ms. Forde and her defense team are authorized to speak on her behalf.

While we appreciate the website’s efforts and their intent, it provides minimal assistance to Ms. Forde in the defense of her charges.

Which brings us to the question of the photo used. Who owns it and who holds copyright. No one can say for certain but certainly not Lawless and her merry little band of scam artists and wingnuts. That photo has been used all over the internet for more than a year, by bloggers and news organizations world wide.

A case can be made that the photo in question, and indeed just about any photo we choose to use to report this valid news event is protected under the concept of “FAIR USE”. The doctrine of fair use has developed through a substantial number of court decisions over the years and has been codified in section 107 of the copyright law.

Section 107 contains a list of the various purposes for which the reproduction of a particular work may be considered fair, such as criticism, comment, news reporting, teaching, scholarship, and research. Section 107 also sets out four factors to be considered in determining whether or not a particular use is fair:

1. The purpose and character of the use, including whether such use is of commercial nature or is for nonprofit educational purposes
2. The nature of the copyrighted work
3. The amount and substantiality of the portion used in relation to the copyrighted work as a whole
4. The effect of the use upon the potential market for, or value of, the copyrighted work

So the photo is used in a non commercial manner for the reporting of news which is permitted under the FAIR USE doctrine, according to our attorneys.

This is just another case of Lawless/Dills and her friends trying to scam a quick buck from those of us who are intent on keeping this crime before the public and reporting the truth that they don’t want to become known.

And we will continue to do so, right up until the time of conviction and sentencing. Lawless/Dills threats are meaningless and somewhat humorous as it is something she does on a regular basis to people whom she doesn’t agree with.

We won’t be swayed nor intimidated by this nutcase and her two or three followers. She knows our position on this already.

Roberta Dills/Laine Lawless does not own copyright on that photo or any others used on this site. I would challenge them to prove otherwise.

But in retrospect, Immigrationclearinghouse is working towards the same goal. JUSTICE FOR SHAWNA FORDE. We want the full weight of the Pima Country justice system to give Forde her day in court and receive the justice she deserves for the heinous murder of an innocent 9 year old child. And we also want Justice for Brisenia Flores, her father Raul and her mother Gina.
