Scott Brown, in a neck to neck race against Massachusetts Attorney General Martha Coakley received an unwanted endorsement yesterday from ALIPAC and William Gheen. Just what he needs in this tight a race. Endorsements from right wing anti-immigrant hate groups of little consequence.
ALIPAC’s endorsement of Brown has all the usual drivel and misinformation such as:
- ALIPAC is one of the nation’s largest multi-ethnic and non-partisan grassroots organizations dedicated to opposing illegal immigration and amnesty for illegals, while supporting the enforcement of America’s existing immigration laws and borders. Actually, ALIPAC has a couple of token Hispanics and a couple of token blacks in it’s small roster or members. As for being non-partisan, it’s leader, William Gheen is an equal opportunity hate monger, throwing tantrums and tirades against all who disagree with his positions.
- Certified scientific polls continue to show that 66-80% of Americans support immigration enforcement, instead of a “path to citizenship” for illegal aliens. Actually, the only polls showing this are polls rigged by the right wing extremists and certification only means that they meet with Gheen’s approval and point of view. Easily dismissed.

Mike Madden of Salon Magazine received the ALIPAC press release as we did yesterday and wrote the following article about Brown swimming in the cesspool with the nativists. A good article, here’s an excerpt:
Brown was endorsed Wednesday by Americans for Legal Immigration PAC, one of the most aggressive organizations against illegal immigration in the country (the group runs a Web page where it encourages people to “report illegal immigrants, employers that hire illegal labor, and smugglers”). Officials say ALIPAC is backing Brown “due to his campaign’s focus on the issue of the illegal immigration.” The endorsement may not be entirely welcome news; the Southern Poverty Law Center points out that some of ALIPAC’s funding comes from the Federation for American Immigration Reform, which the SPLC has branded a hate group.
Another group on the SPLC’s list, MassResistance, is also urging its ideological allies to vote for Brown. A blatantly anti-gay organization, MassResistance says Democratic candidate Martha Coakley’s “enthusiastic support of [the] radical homosexual/transgender agenda” is reason enough to oppose her — though the group worries Brown is moving to the left to try to win independents. “Let’s hope the election comes quickly, before Brown morphs into a Republican Barney Frank,” says an analysis of the race on the MassResistance Web site. But the group still says Brown is “the best man” for the Senate seat.
This has ALIPAC’s William Gheen up in arms this morning. With Gheen, the truth stings, it hurts like hell and his tactic is to point accusatory fingers at the truth mongers and try to marginalize and discredit the source. The Southern Poverty Law Center, Mike Madden and Salon magazine is the focus of Gheen’s juvenile rant today.
Here’s Whining Willy’s response. He calls it “SPLC Lies Get Salon Magazine and Mike Madden In Hot Water”. (No lies from the SPLC. All of their claims are verified as the truth by Willies own actions and words)
A liberally biased reporter for Salon.com, Mike Madden, attempted to run to the aid of the Martha Coakley’s campaign yesterday after Americans for Legal Immigration PAC (ALIPAC) endorsed and contributed to the Scott Brown for U.S. Senate campaign in Massachusetts……….
Mike Madden of Salon.com made a major mistake by launching a hit piece against ALIPAC after receiving ALIPAC’s press release about the endorsement of the Scott Brown campaign.Madden accessed propaganda distributed by the Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC), which has become widely discredited in the last few years for distributing false information that has embarrassed many members of the media who quoted them.
“We hope that the national embarrassment Mr. Madden and Salon.com will now endure for printing false and derogatory attacks in an attempt to affect the outcome of an election will be a lesson to others,” said Gheen. “Print media is not supposed to attempt to write political smears to influence elections, and when they use false information like this, everyone suffers.”
Mike Madden even attempted to contact the Scott Brown campaign to ask for responses to his promotion of false and derogatory information.
Mr Madden and Salon magazine will not endure any ‘national embarrassment’ as Gheen puts it. The article points out and verifies everything that has been written about the delusional Gheen on this site and others.
Gheen offers a “clarification”
Here’s Gheen’s so-called response to Mr. Maddens article, followed by our expert analysis:
SPLC / Mike Madden / Salon.com False claim #1
“Scott Brown’s ugly friends…. GOP candidate for Senate draws some support from the far right…a couple of unsavory right-wing groups are coming to Republican candidate Scott Brown’s aid — underscoring just how conservative the GOP nominee…really is.”
The use of the word “ugly” is overtly biased, childish, and highly unprofessional. This is a campaign for U.S. Senate, not a playground fight. If Mr. Madden and his editors are not up to the level of professionalism expected, they should stay away from the elections all together. It is not a far-right position to support secure borders and immigration enforcement while opposing Amnesty. Many Americans who consider themselves Democrats and liberals support ALIPAC’s stances.
The use of the word “ugly”, is mild and more polite than some of the words William Gheen uses to describe undocumented immigrants, the Pro-Reform movement, and others whose opinions he does not agree with. Calling children “anchors”, our President and members of his cabinet as well as members of the House and Senate, traitors, idiots, morons, scumbags and such, has a much more negative connotation. Jumping in bed with the birthers, with the psychopathic leader of the San Diego Minutemen, Jeff Schwilk, etc. You’re judged by the company you keep.
SPLC / Mike Madden / Salon.com False claim #2
“The endorsement may not be entirely welcome news; the Southern Poverty Law Center points out that some of ALIPAC’s funding comes from the Federation for American Immigration Reform, which the SPLC has branded a hate group.”
Americans for Legal Immigration PAC is not and has not ever been funded by FAIR (Federation For American Immigration Reform). The SPLC claim that ALIPAC receives funding from FAIR is blatantly false.
Furthermore, ALIPAC does not recognize the SPLC claim that FAIR is a “hate group” as a legitimate claim. We have witnessed that FAIR is a multi-racial, non-violent, pro-immigration enforcement group that works with lawmakers and the media. The SPLC has developed a reputation for attacking multi-ethnic civic-oriented organizations that simply oppose illegal immigration.
In closing, ALIPAC is not “ugly”, “unsavory”, nor “right wing”. Opposing illegal immigration and Amnesty for illegals is not “ugly”, “unsavory”, or “right wing”. ALIPAC receives no funding from FAIR and FAIR is not a hate group.
I would challenge Willy to prove his assertion that he receives no funding from FAIR or anyone associated with them. If one takes a look at ALIPAC’s FEC filings, they reveal some interesting patterns. Such as a “retiree” in Naples Florida who just happens to have $2,000.00 lying around to donate to this do-nothing. Or the “self employed” person in Sugarland Texas who donated $5000.00 to Gheen, yet ALIPAC skirted the reporting requirements for reporting donations by falling back on the tried and worn “best effort” defense. Something he is constantly called to task about by the FEC, Another “retiree” in McMinnville Or, puts $5k in Willies pocket. And in this economy? Rightttt!
No one really cares whether Willy Gheen recognizes the SPLC or not. They are an old and well respected organization. A well researched and written article proves the SPLC claim that FAIR and others associated with white nationlist John Tantons network are indeed agitators or hate and racial tension against immigrants, both legal and illegal. And William Gheen and ALIPAC have chosen to ally themselves and defend their colleagues FAIR and NUMBERSUSA.
You be the judge
