Strange happenings in the Arizona Desert

I don’t believe in coincidences. The murder of Cochise County Rancher Robert Krentz, last month ignited a firestorm of protest and revived the unconstitutional bill known as SB-1070, from the doldrums of the Senate into a misguided law Gov. Jan Brewer signed into law.

Everyone immediately jumped to the conclusion, without any evidence of support, that an “illegal” did it. What was the evidence? Footsteps leading towards Mexico.

We found out later that Krentz was killed by a 9mm handgun. Illegal immigrants DO NOT carry weapons, especially one as expensive as a 9mm.

But let’s not let silly little things like facts and evidence get in the way of mass hysteria, especially in Arizona, where racial profiling and harassment of Hispanics is an everyday thing, by members of Sheriff Joe Arpaios goons squads.

Anti Mexican activist and former Congressman Tom Tancredo was conveniently in town at the time the murder ocurred. The event was quickly politicized by the ultra right wing whack jobs from coast to coast. The media whore Willy Gheen of ALIPAC, never one to miss a media moment, sent out one of his sophomoric press releases demanding action.

And all the time, no suspects emerged. None were arrested but the calls for militarization of our border was loud and clear. And SB-1070 was signed into law on the back of this hysteria, and now, for Hispanics in Arizona, it’s a crime to breathe!

Yesterday, a Pinal County Deputy, Louie Puroll was allegedly “ambushed” by 5 armed men in an area of Interstate 8 and Arizona 84, a major corridor for drug traffickers.

It is reported he was ambushed by “illegal alliens” armed with AK-47′s. A gunbattle ensued with Puroll firing back with an AR-15 and handgun. The problem here is illegal immigrants are NOT ARMED WITH AR-15′s. They’re not armed PERIOD!. An AK-47 costs in the neighborhood of $2000.00 in Mexico. Far beyond the reach of civilians coming to this country looking for work.

But the manner in which this has been reported is having it’s desired effect. The anti-Mexican faction in Arizona and around the country is using this to push for more restrictive actions against Hispanics.

Our friend Stephen Lemmons said it best;

Fortunately, Puroll was not killed or injured more seriously than he was, but you can bet that this incident will become a battle cry in the ongoing debate over SB 1070, Arizona’s new immigration law.

That law would have done nothing to prevent an incident like the one today. Nor would it have saved the life of southern Arizona rancher Rob Krentz, who was murdered, many believe, by drug or human smugglers.

But that won’t matter for the debate, as we soon shall see.

Oddly enough, another media whore, Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio appeared at a news conference with Pinal County Sheriff Paul Babeu. Arpaio responded to the scene with his good squad of about 70 SWAT members to share the spotlight. What is amazing about this is Arpaio’s jurisdiction is almost 100 miles from the scene.

The point is, these were not Illegal immigrants who committed these crimes. If in fact, Hispanics were involved, and there could be some doubt about that, especially in the case of Robert Krentz, they were members of a drug cartel. Big difference folks. Illegal immigrants entering this country for work are not armed.

Which takes me back to my original statement that I don’t believe in coincidences. Bill Davis and the Cochise Militia, recruiting was veterans with a kill record. Whacked out members of the defunct MCDC (Minutemen Civil Defense Corps), and other Minutemen groups hunting and stalking Mexicans on the border.

Robert Krentz murdered and SB-1070 gets passed. A deputy sheriff, operating drug interdiction patrol ALONE in an area known as a drug trafficking corridor, gets into a gun battle with 5 men who have yet to be found, and is suspiciously “shot”. He received a non critical flesh wound. Took a chunk of his hide. They say he was shot with an AK-47 but no bullet. An AR-15 is similar, especially when a bullet is not recovered.

Makes on wonder doesn’t it!
