City officials are rethinking how Santa Ana celebrates the Fourth of July after Minutemen and Tea Baggers in this year’s festival were caught on tape using the word “wetback” and worse to describe people in the mostly Latino crowd.

The celebration was not sponsored by the city, but by the Friends of the Santa Ana Public Library and a nonprofit group that offers classes on the Constitution. One of the lead organizers was self hating latina and rabble rouser Lupe Moreno, a member of the library group and who is also a prominent anti-immigration activist who is in ass deep with the Minuteman Project.

Moreno and her sister were speakers at a June 5 Tea Baggers rally in Phoenix to support Arizona’s draconian new anti immigrant law SB-1070, where they inflamed the crowd with some concocted story of how their lives had been destroyed by an alleged illegal immigrant.

Her presence at the festival drew activist Naui Huitzilopochtli, who films anti-immigration rallies. He stopped at a table where Yorba Linda resident Gary Hynds and his wife Anita, were selling soft drinks and assorted junk. His wife Anita also appears to be a “birther” and a whack job who has the solution for Arizona She also calls for our Presidents impeachment, They Hynds have also been connected to nativist whack jobs and border vigilantes Jeff “Bikini Boy” Schwilk, Ray Herrera and others, calling themselve SoCalPatriots

Once again, border vigilante Jim Gilchrist finds himself at the center of controversy over a speaking engagement at the University of Nevada-Reno. The ACLU has become involved in the controversy.

Last month, border vigilante and Minuteman founder Jim Gilchrist has a much anticipated invitation to speak at a Harvard symposium revoked when students of the Harvard Undergraduate Legal Committee (HULC) sought his removal as a guest panelist. They were successful, and Gilchrist, being the type of person he is, launched a virulent and nasty attack against one of the leaders of the successful protest, Kyle de Beausset

Controversy surrounding Gilchrist has reared it’s ugly head once again, only this time with an ironic twist.

Once again, Gilchrist has been invited to be part of a panel discussion about immigration at the University of Nevada-Reno, and once again, student leaders and faculty do not want to give a forum to his brand of bigoted xenophobic rants.

Her name is Lynne Stevens, 65, a lesbian nativist whack job from Phoenix who spends her time harassing day laborers in the Phoenix area. Hanging out at Joe Arpaio’s Phoenix offices with her Smith and Wesson on her hip and video camera at the ready.

A regular attendee of United for a Sovereign America meetings, she rides a red motorcycle, and bears a patch on her vest that states “Lesbian and Proud of It.”

The Feathered Bastard has done an interesting article on this freak of nature on his Phoenix New Times Blog.

She seems she would be right at home with any of the Minutemen organizations. Responding to some of FB’s question, she revealed this violent streak, so common to those who slither around the border.

MEXICO CITY — The United States should reinstate a Clinton-era ban on assault weapons to prevent such guns from reaching Mexican drug cartels, former officials from both countries said in a report released Tuesday.

The group, which includes two former U.S. ambassadors to Mexico, also said the U.S. should do more to stop the smuggling of firearms and ammunition into Mexico by stepping up investigations of gun dealers and more strictly regulating gun shows.

Inter-American Commission Takes on Human Rights Case Against U.S. for Not Prosecuting Border Vigilante Groups

Residents of Douglas, Arizona recall Minutemen driving through their small downtown area randomly asking people walking down the street if they had “papers.” Since those early days of border vigilante groups patrolling the border and border towns, harassment and racial profiling has continued. Currently, a Minuteman member faces charges for murdering an Arivaca, Arizona man and his child this summer.

The Border Action Network, an Arizona-based human rights organization, believes that the U.S. government should be held to task for turning a blind eye to the groups. “Anti-immigrant vigilantism continues to plague Arizona and the border region,” explains Jennifer Allen, Border Action’s Executive Director.

“We tried everything possible to get local, state and federal officials to address rights violations and criminal behavior of these groups who act like they are above the rule of law. We found that no one had the courage or political will to prosecute them. In some cases, we found collusion between the government and vigilantes.”

Mixed verdict for Roger Barnett Trial

By Uncategorized Comments Off

Roger Barnett of Arizona, the border vigilante, must pay $78,000 to four immigrants after holding them at gunpoint, a jury found, but he was cleared of violating their civil rights.

This is about right coming from a state where a small majority of the population, think they speak for the majority, and any crime against a hispanic is viewed as perfectly acceptable by juries in this State.

This is one example. Roger Barnett has a long history of confronting trespassers on his ranch property in Southern Arizona, something he is perfectly within his rights to do.

However, those rights do not include kicking defenseless women cowering on the ground in front of him while being forced to listen to the tirade of racist filth spewing from his lips.

Nor do he have the right to threaten to turn lose trained attack surs on those he apprehends.

Arizona law does not give him the rights to flash a phony badge at those detained, a badge that looks suspiciously like an official Arizona law enforcement badge, especially at those who are ignorant of it’s value.

In interviews after the verdict, Barnett claims he was merely “discussing calmly” the breach of the law by those caught trespassing, and seeing a woman who appeared non responsive, he touched her with his toe.

However, testimony in Court suggested, Barnett kicked this woman hard enough to break a religious figurine she had in her rucksack.

Barnett claims he “holstered his weapon” upon seeing the group was unarmed. Again, testimony suggested that contrary to this, Barnett continued to wave his weapons, pointing them randomly at the group while calmly ranting about “Fucking Mexicans” and “how he was going to sic his dogs on their ass if they moved”.

Sheriff’s deputies confirmed the latter version of events.

So once again, in Arizona, crimes against Hispanics flourish and rights are routinely violated under color of law.

We all remember the case of Border Patrol Agent Nicholas Corbett who murdered in cold blood, a migrant who was on his knees before the agent surrendering, when Corbett shot him in the side, killing him instantly, in front of three witnesses.

Despite eyewitness testimony, forensic and ballistic evidence proving the prosecutions case, Corbett walked not once, but twice, due to mistrials. The result of Arizona jurors not doing their sworn duty, as was the case in this trial.
