Death Penalty for Minuteman Shawna Forde

The Pima County jury hearing the case of convicted double murderer and Minuteman Shawna Forde have unanimously agreed that Forde should be put to death for the barbaric murders of 9 year old Brisenia Flores and her father Raul. The verdict was returned shortly before noon in the courtroom of the Honorable Judge John S. Leonardo who has presided over the case. The mitigation or penalty phase of convicted murderer Shawna Forde’s trial continued today as defense attorney Jill Thorpe tried to convince the jurors that Fordes life should be spared the death penalty. Some quick highlights: Dr. James P. Sullivan, forensic neuropsychologist hired by the defense team, that among other things, Forde told him she would have a major role in Governor Jan Brewer’s 2012 Presidential campaign. “She told me she was going to be the lead person in Jan Brewer’s campaign for president of the United States,” he testified.

Jurors returned to court this morning to listen to prosecutor Rick Unklesbay describe why convicted murderer and Minuteman Shawna Forde should receive the death penalty. Convicted murderer Shawna Forde speaks for first time since arrest

Award winning journalist and Arizona based author Terry Greene Sterling scored an exclusive interview with convicted murderer Shawna Forde, hours after she was found guilt of the murder of 9 year Brisenia Flores, her father Raul and the attempted murder of Gina Gonzalez. Speaking to Forde via a videophone at the Pima County Adult Detention Center, Forde continued to maintain her innocence, despite the findings of a jury of 12 of her peers. Wearing glasses, no makeup, and black-and-white striped uniform of a convict, Forde told Sterling that she was “extremely saddened” by the verdict,, but took it “like a pro”, because she could not allow herself to “freak out” in public in front of her legions of supporters.
