It’s alive and well as Minuteman Project President Jim Glichrist, San Diego Minuteman founder Jeff “Bikini Boy” Schwilk and his ally, ALIPAC President William Gheen trade insults and charges amongst themselves. The haters are truly spreading the hate. Here’s a candid view of what going on from some of the premiere websites of the Pro-Reform movement. We’ve received the same referenced e-mails but Ted Hessen and Patrick Young of Long Island Wins and Dee Perez-Scott of the critically acclaimed blog Immigration Talk with a Mexican American, have given us a wonderful visual image of the “Minutemen Wars” Let’s take a look.
Update on “The Minuteman Wars”
We reported earlier of a photo sent to us by a trusted source that put Minuteman Child Killer Shawna Forde side by side with Minuteman project founder Jim Gilchrist in a desert operation in 2007. LONG ISLAND WINS wrote an excellent article on the subject, and the race was on. Jim Gilchrist personally responded to the article. Part of his comments were:
We’ve seen Jim Gilchrist’s recent statement about the activities of ALIPAC and San Diego Minutemen where he exposes their agenda and validates the charges we’ve made against them. We’ve also written about Gilchrist’s involvement with accused Minuteman child killer Shawna Forde. In this interview, Naui interviews Jim Gilchrist about Minutewoman Shawna Forde. 11/05/09 Outside of the Phoenix Club in Anaheim, CA where Gilchrist attended a fundraiser for Orange County Sheriff’s Candidate Bill Hunt. The amazing part is where Gilchrist admits what they’ve all been denying. That Shawna Forde was associated with many of the Minutmen groups, and ALIPAC. You judge for yourself.
Sometimes, even those of us at opposite ends of the debate can find common ground for agreement. That appears to be the case in this statement issued by Minuteman Project Founder Jim Gilchrist. He acknowledges, and confirms, what we’ve been saying all along, about William Gheen, his organization ALIPAC, and those he associates himself with. Dear Americans, Unfortunately, I must agree with the pejorative comments about some organizations involved in the immigration law enforcement advocacy movement. Specifically, organizations like William Gheen’s ALIPAC, his affiliate Brook Young of Immigration Watchdog (now defunct) and Jeff Schwilk’s San Diego Minutemen(SDMM).
As we posted yesterday, Jim Gilchrist, founder of the border vigilante group Minuteman Project, finds himself in the center of a firestorm of protests against his invitation to participate in a debate at University of Reno-Nevada. And as he did against Kyle de Beausset, Harvard undergraduate and publisher of CITIZEN ORANGE, Gilchrist is on the attack against the students and faculty of UNR and ASUN, who oppose his appearance. In a reply to the above referenced article, Gilchrist wrote:
Last month, border vigilante and Minuteman founder Jim Gilchrist has a much anticipated invitation to speak at a Harvard symposium revoked when students of the Harvard Undergraduate Legal Committee (HULC) sought his removal as a guest panelist. They were successful, and Gilchrist, being the type of person he is, launched a virulent and nasty attack against one of the leaders of the successful protest, Kyle de Beausset Controversy surrounding Gilchrist has reared it’s ugly head once again, only this time with an ironic twist. Once again, Gilchrist has been invited to be part of a panel discussion about immigration at the University of Nevada-Reno, and once again, student leaders and faculty do not want to give a forum to his MORE
Further proof of the lunacy of the anti immigrant border vigilantes comes in the form of a comment left by Jim Gilchrist, Minuteman founder and confidant of Minuteman killer Shawna Forde in his continuing attacks on Harvard undergrad and immigrant activist Kyle De Beausset, publisher of the website CITIZEN ORANGE. Gilchrist still has his panties in a bunch after having his much anticipated invitation to speak at a Harvard Law symposium. Rightfully so, as Gilchrist has nothing substantial to add to real debate, other than his stale rants against Mexicans and the misinformation he associates with them. Our friend, attorney Pat Young of LONG ISLAND WINS wrote of this in a post titled, Minuteman National Leader Gets In Fight With MORE
For months, Jim Gilchrist, founder of the original border vigilante group, the Minutemen, looked forward to his invitation to speak at a Public Interest and Law Conference hosted by The Harvard Undergraduate Legal Committee (HULC). Fortunately, cooler heads prevailed and it was decided that Gilchrist’s participation in the conference on the behalf of the Minutemen Project was not compatible with providing an environment for civil, educational, and productive discourse on immigration, and HULC decided they couldnot host him at that time. And they were correct. Wherever Gilchrist appears, it is to rant about spew misinformation about illegal immigrants, border security and his utopian vision of a world without immigrants. Kyle de Beausset, an undergraduate student and migrant advocate, and publisher MORE
Less than a year after speaking at a Harvard University student conference, the head of an anti-illegal immigration movement had his invitation to speak at a similar forum rescinded following a student uproar over his aggressive position on immigration. Jim Gilchrist, founder of the Minuteman Project, which sends armed vigilantes to patrol the Mexican border for illegal immigrants crossing into the United States, was scheduled to speak during a public interest and law conference hosted by the Harvard Undergraduate Legal Committee. Gilchrist was slated to appear on a panel that discussed “Immigration and Its Future in America.’’ But student protests, emboldened since Gilchrist spoke at a Harvard Law School event in February, led to the cancellation of his invitation.
