Crowds estimated at 50,000 marched fromSteele Indian School Park to the State Capitol Saturday morning to protest Arizonas new anti immigrant law known as SB-1070.

The crowd of protesters stretched more than a half mile through the city streets as the throng of people banged drums, chanted slogans asking President Barack Obama to intervene and waved American flags as they made their way toward downtown Phoenix. Organizers were scattered throughout the protesters picking up trash and providing water to the marchers as the day got progressively hotter.

The rally was peaceful as are the majority of rallies pushing for immigration reform. People attending this event came from as far away as New York and Texas and as close as California.

Speakers at the Capitol, included AFL-CIO president Richard Trumka, spoke to the crowd about the climate of fear Arizona’s immigration-enforcement law has created.

“Immigrants are not the cause of Americas problems and (Senate Bill) 1070 is not the answer,” Trumka said.

Gov. Jan Brewer

Arizona Governor Jan Brewer - "You know Arizona has been under terrorist attacks, if you will, with all of this illegal immigration that has been taking place on our very porous border", while ignoring the terrorism being directed against her states Hispanic population

Arizona Governor Jan Brewer, getting it from all sides for her signing of SB-1070, Arizona’s racial profiling law, continues pandering to the extremists in her state and around the nation, this time, pulling out the “terror card”.

In a little-noticed Fox News interview Friday, Arizona’s Republican governor, Jan Brewer, described the challenge of illegal immigration in her state as a veritable terrorist bonanza.

Fox News host Megyn Kelly asked Brewer, “Do you think that these folks who are all noticeably outside of your state, are the ones that I just ticked off, including the President, have an appreciation, governor, for what Arizona has been going through with respect to illegal immigration?”

“Obviously not,” Brewer replied. “You know Arizona has been under terrorist attacks, if you will, with all of this illegal immigration that has been taking place on our very porous border. […] The whole issue comes back, that we do not and will not tolerate illegal immigration bringing with it very much so the implications of crime and terrorism into our state.”

You are so right Governor Brewer.  Arizona has been under and the scene of many terrorist attacks of late.

Some examples come to mind.

Sources are suggesting that Arizona Sheriff Joe Arpaio will be making an announcement next week, possibly on Tuesday of his plans to run for Governor of Arizona.

IMMIGRATION CLEARINGHOUSE supports and endorses Sheriff Arpaio in his quest to unseat Governor Jan Brewer.

Republican Party Chairman Randy Pullen said he has spoken with the Sheriff on several occasions about running for governor.

I don’t believe in coincidences. The murder of Cochise County Rancher Robert Krentz, last month ignited a firestorm of protest and revived the unconstitutional bill known as SB-1070, from the doldrums of the Senate into a misguided law Gov. Jan Brewer signed into law.

Everyone immediately jumped to the conclusion, without any evidence of support, that an “illegal” did it. What was the evidence? Footsteps leading towards Mexico.

We found out later that Krentz was killed by a 9mm handgun. Illegal immigrants DO NOT carry weapons, especially one as expensive as a 9mm.

Protesters at Arizona State University courageously interrupted a first amendment forum where the infamous Sheriff Joe Arpaio was interviewed in a ‘Meet the Press’ style. With protesters singing a must-read ‘Immigration Rhapsody,’ the Sheriff ended up playing dodgeball and walking out of a scrutinizing session.

You can watch the whole video here.

The Walter Cronkite School of Journalism is unhappy. So are the students who attended the conference.  Maybe the behavior of the protesters is misplaced but it is nothing compared to the behavior of attention-holic Sheriff Arpaio who has no problem forcing women to give birth while shackledparading immigrants in pink underwear and conducting racial profiling while ignoring real law enforcement priorities. After all, the singing started just as Arpaio started defending his immigration policies.

Comparatively, singing him off the forum is nothing — the U.S. Department of Justice should have shackled and dragged Arpaio away in pink underwear with his ‘Wilbur the Wildcat’ mascot.
