Caucasian Crew leader Jeff Conroy receives max sentence for Hispanic hate crime murder

Finally, the healing can start for the family of Marcelo Lucero, the Ecuadorean immigrant who was stabbed to death by Jeff Conroy and crew in 2008. Conroy and friends were out for a night of “beaner hopping” in Long Island, when they mistook Lucero for a Mexican and stabbed him to death. A young Ecuadorian, walking with a friend after a day of work, looking forward to a cold beer and TV with friends, is confronted by a gang of young punks, out for a night of “beaner bashing”.  Something they do for the “sport of it”, several times a week.
