On April 30, 2009,  the Senate received, from the House of Representatives, H.R. 1913 Local Law Enforcement Hate Crimes Prevention Act of 2009 which passed the House on a vote of  249-175 . It was  referred to the Senate Committee on the Judiciary. This bill had 120 co-sponsors in the House.
