Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals Rejects Gov. Brewer’s Challenge, Upholds Injunction of SB 1070

FROM F I R M Today the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals refused to lift an injunction on the most controversial aspects of SB 1070, including the provision that required police to verify the immigration status of anyone they suspected of being undocumented. TPM reports: The Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals on Monday struck down Arizona Gov. Jan Brewer’s appeal of a preliminary injunction against the state’s controversial immigration law, upholding the decision by a District Court judge to block key parts of the law until the Justice Department’s lawsuit against it is decided. The ruling represents a significant assertion that it’s the federal government’s responsibility, not the states, to enforce immigration laws. Again, Gov. Jan Brewer and her allies MORE

Economic Boycott of Arizona to continue despite defeat of Anti Mexican legislation pushed by Russell Pearce

Arizona human rights group Puente, and activist Sal Reza issued a press release today indicating that they will continue to stand behind the successful  economic boycott against Arizona business until the draconian anti Hispanic SB-1070 is consigned to the trash heap of history, along with it’s author, Senator Russell Pearce. The press release states: “The Boycott will intensify and continue until SB1070 and other anti-migrant laws are repealed.” Said Raul Cordero. Raul has been actively boycotting business associated with financing anti-migrant legislators in their election and reelection bids. “These legislators have taken Arizona to the brink of disaster causing major economic losses with their anti-human campaigns against workers and law abiding residents of Arizona.” Concluded Isabel Garcia from Tucson There have MORE

Folks… I make absolutely no apologies for posting this vile and despicable video nor do I make any apologies for the manner in which I changed the title to reflect what these three cretins represent in my mind and in the minds of most of my readers. Sadly, there are many out there who agree with these three and are applauding their words. Were they my daughters, a razor strap across their asses would be in their immediate future! Pima County Sheriff Clarence Dupnik, a fine and honorable man, is being hammered and vilified for speaking the truth as he sees it, and this video is a prime example of what he speaks of. Children are born innocent. Hatred for MORE

Happy New Year 2011

I’ll take a moment to wish a Happy New Year to all our tens of thousands of visitors who have helped us make Immigration Clearinghouse into what it is and to our thousands of subscribers and donors who motivate us to keep going. I’m not going to waste time doing a “2010 Year in Review”. The year ended with mixed results and we’ll leave it at that. Going into 2011, I’m going to spend more time with friends and family, something I’ve neglected the past year. But there are several things we’re going to be concentrating on.

Immigration 2011 - The fight moves to Texas

Emboldened by gains in the Texas House and Senate, Teapublicans are set to introduce a slew of anti-immigrant bills in next years legislative session that will make Arizona’s draconian laws look like child’s play. SOME OF IMMIGRATION BILLS FILED

Another smack down for racist Az Senator Russell Pearce - 9th Circuit kills racist provision of Prop 200

Sitting here reading the latest but of trite propaganda from Willy Gheen and ALIPAC, I see irony in what Stephen Lemmons of Phoenix New Times wrote about the decision of the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals striking down a decidedly racist provision of Prop 200, that sought to make proving one’s citizenship a prerequisite for voter registration. The unelected governor of Arizona, Jan Brewer made the normal statement of outrage, which we expect every time their attempts to usurp Federal law fails. “The decision is an outrage,” Governor Jan Brewer and Secretary of State Ken Bennett announced in a joint statement, “and a slap in the face to all Arizonans who care about the integrity of their elections.” The statement MORE

Creepy, incoherent and frighteningly stupid is how FB describes the Republican candidate for Governor of Arizona. If you need an incentive to cast a ballot, here it is Arizona Attorney General Terry Goddard may not be the perfect gubernatorial candidate, but compared to his Republican rival Governor Jan Brewer, he’s a freakin’ Nobel Prize laureate. It’s a real sin that the political climate of this state is so focused on bashing Mexicans. Otherwise, Brewer wouldn’t have a popsicle’s chance in July, and Goddard would be the anointed one. Christ, the people of Arizona deserve better than this half baked retard leading their state into ruin and economic oblivion. Thanks to Dennis Gilman for the video and Stephen Lemmons for the MORE

While Arizona denies the racist nature of SB-1070 - Florida proudly flaunts it!

Florida is the latest to jump on the anti immigrant Hispanic bashing bandwagon with their own copycat version of Arizona’s SB-1070, but with a twist. While Arizona continues to deny the racist intent of SB-1070, Florida is quick to proudly proclaim that Canadians and Western Europeans to be “presumed to be legally in the United States,” even though other non-citizens must carry papers. As you probably know, Canadians and Western Europeans are white folks, and in the case of Canadians, with a goodly mixture of Arabs, and others from Muslim countries that don’t particularly like the US.

[BREAKING NEWS] Judge denies Gov. Jan Brewer's motions in SB1070 case - Plaintiffs have standing

PHOENIX – Federal Judge Susan Bolton has denied motions by Governor Jan Brewer and Sheriff Joe Arpaio to dismiss a lawsuit challenging the constitutionality of Senate Bill 1070. Bolton found that the plaintiffs, Friendly House and the American Civil Liberties Union, had standing to bring the lawsuit and that the moment was “ripe” to do so because of concerns surrounding unreasonable search and seizure and the “equal protection clause” which forbids unequal treatment for different classes of people or racial discrimination. Seven lawsuits have been filed in federal court against SB 1070. Two have been dismissed, and two have yet to be argued in front of Bolton.

Clowns interrupt clowns in Rhode Island Assembly

Just as guest speaker Jim Gilchrist derided critics who call him a “racial supremacist,” the clowns came marching in. Two dozen rubber-nosed, rainbow-wigged clowns disrupted Friday’s State House rally in support of an Arizona-style, bipartisan immigration bill being cosponsored by state Representatives Peter G. Palumbo and Joseph A. Trillo. Gilchrist, co-founder of The Minuteman Project, a “national citizens’ vigilante group” at the U.S.-Mexico border spoke first at the rally sponsored by his group and Rhode Islanders for Immigration Law Enforcement.
