Minutemen reinventing themselves as "Tea Bagger Patriots"

Since the murderous antics of Minuteman leader Shawna Forde put the onus on other Minuteman groups and sent them scurrying for cover and deniability and exposed their vigilante agenda, what has happened to the various Minuteman factions and other so-called “Patriots” of the border vigilante movement? According to David Holthouse, an investigative reporter for Media Matters and our friend Dee Perez-Scott, publisher of the blog Immigration Talk with a Mexican American, they have infiltrated the Tea Party movement looking for legitimacy. Arizona doesn’t have all the nutcase legislators. Texas has a few of our own, including state Rep. Lois Kolkhorst (R-Brenham) who recently introduced a bill that would force law enforcement officials to take undocumented migrants to a Congressional or Senate office and dump them on the doorstep. No real surprises in the election numbers last night. Democrats hold the Senate, Repubs get a majority in the House. Two of the three tea baggers running, Sharon Angle and Christine O’Donnell, knocked out of the race with ease. In Alaska, it appears that the third, the thuggish Joe Miller, will be defeated by Senator Lisa Murkowski, who ran as a write in on the ballot. At the moment, the winners in the House are beating their chests and talking about a new day in Washington. About “taking back the country”. From who or what, who knows or cares. Perhaps more relevant today than when it was published on May 26, 2009: As many anti-immigrant groups blur the line between discussions of immigration policy and outright bigotry towards non-white immigrants, white supremacists and anti-Semites have become increasingly supportive of those groups whose rhetoric matches their own anti-immigrant sentiment. Extremists exploit the legitimacy of these anti-immigrant groups to advance their own hateful ideology and possibly expand recruitment.

Arizona Senate candidate Jim Deakin responded to ALIPAC President William Gheen’s demands that he drop out of the primary race and throw his support behind former corrupt Congressman JD Hayworth. Mr. Deakin’s response: The campaign for Conservative Tea Party candidate Jim Deakin responded to a letter suggesting he withdraw from the US Senatorial race. The request, in support of the Hayworth campaign comes at a time when Hayworth is losing significant support, the Deakin campaign noted. In the video Mr Galindo confronts a “Tea Party Patriot”, sans teeth and sans any clue about what he is against, during a protest against SB-1070 outside the Mexican Consulate in Phoenix. Civil discourse is out the window this political cycle it seems, helped by websites such as ALIPAC, VDARE and other more radical venues, that accuse politicians and our President of treason, sedition and other traitorous conduct. But some take it further. Senate Sergeant at Arms Terrance Gainer reports threats against members of Congress were up 300% in the first few months of 2010, a claim backed up by FBI records. Capitol Police have requested a 54% increase in funding for 2011 to fund travel for dignitary protection officers because of the threats. In 2009, Capitol Police have responded to 142 suspicious packages compared to 32 in 2008 and conducted 1,808 bomb sweeps compared to 970 the year before. What are MORE

This essay, published in the Sacramento Bee by Marc Grossman, Chavez’s longtime press secretary, speechwriter and personal aide, sets the record straight. Chavez backed hard workers regardless of immigrant status Enactment of Arizona’s anti-immigrant law sparked a wave of racist sentiment from some supporters of the statute. Many are members of the tea party movement. A number are citing Cesar Chavez, either in the mistaken notion that he would agree with their views, or as a symbol of their contempt toward anyone with brown skin. Both perceptions are wrong.

We’ve been doing a little more digging as to why ALIPAC’s William Gheen needs $10,000.00 additional to his last fund raising scam to attend the little desert soiree in Phoenix on Jun 12 to support the blatantly racist and unconstitutional SB-1070. The creme’ de la creme’ of the hate movement plans to attend, including Willies little “friend” San Diego Minuteman founder Jeffrey “Bikini Boy” Schwilk. Gheen will indeed be in good company. But $10,000.00 seems a little excessive, even for someone like Willy Gheen who demands the high life. Our research indicated that if Gheen would lower his expectations and fly White Trash Airlines aka Southwest, his fare would be $910.00 round trip before taxes and gratuities.
