But some take it further. Senate Sergeant at Arms Terrance Gainer reports threats against members of Congress were up 300% in the first few months of 2010, a claim backed up by FBI records. Capitol Police have requested a 54% increase in funding for 2011 to fund travel for dignitary protection officers because of the threats.
