Weekend on the border

Border Protest

Youth staged a protest Saturday in response to the murder of a 15 year Juarez youth by US Border Patrol. This photo gives perspective of the distance across the border in relation to the damage a rock could do to someone standing on the other side of the line, which is in the middle of the river.

Over the weekend, a group of protester got together on the Mexican side of the US/Mexico border to protest the murder of 15 year old Sergio Adrian Hernandez Güereca by a yet to be identified US Border Patrol Officer.

About 20 Border Patrol agents turned out in riot gear, helmets and shields to watch the demonstrators, but wisely chose not to release any weapons this time.

The demonstrators appeared to have crossed the Rio Grande and attacked the international fence on the U.S. side of the border. The demonstrators also cut a hole in the fence.

Meanwhile, a know nothing congressman, famous for his anti-Mexican anti-immigrant rhetoric had a solution for the whole problem.

U.S. Rep. Steve King, R-Iowa, said a proper border fence could have prevented last Monday’s murder by a Border Patrol agent of 15-year-old Juárez resident Sergio Adrian Hernandez Güereca.

“A border wall would dramatically reduce illegal immigration, and it would give Border Patrol agents protection from violent assaults that they now face. If we are serious about ending violence along the border, we must make the construction and completion of border fences our priority.”

I think King needs to pull his head out of his ass and quit the political pandering. A fence is in place along the urban area of El Paso. The agent was on the US side shooting into Mexico when he murdered the kid.

Others, continue to spin this as relating to the crimes of convicted felons and former BP agents Ramos & Compean. We can see where the defense of the defenseless actions of this rogue agent are going.
